Resourcing still a major concern for IT professionals

A recent study* of IT professionals during 2014 and 2015 confirmed that “Resourcing” is still a major concern, with this being the most pressing challenge for a large number of respondents over the two years. In fact, over 60% of IT professionals polled admit that they do not have the resource or capacity to manage demand for IT projects in their organisation.

Economic changes and more recently the downturn, have meant that IT departments have been faced with ever decreasing budgets and headcounts. Following this period of cost-savings and cut-backs, and left with a scaled-back internal team, IT departments are struggling to cope with anything over and above business as usual activities.

As a result, IT departments are not surprisingly searching for cost effective, flexible ways to increase their capabilities and capacity – but many are hamstrung by the same traditional approaches, which don’t necessarily satisfy their needs, or that of the business.
